Six Sentence Sunday 12/18/11

My Holiday Gift to You. :)

Greetings, my darling sixers, and welcome to the final Six Sentence Sunday of 2011! We're gonna close out with a bit from the new opening of my erotic horror story The House on Shadowbird Lane, which I hope to sub next week. Have you ever felt like you might have multiple personalities?

Evalyn hadn’t slept in days. She couldn’t bear to imagine what horrors the other her would unleash on the world if allowed out to "play". She paced the well worn path in her bedroom carpet, doing everything she could think of to stay awake. But despite her best efforts, her eyes began to droop and she yawned, fighting the urge to climb into the bed. Shaking off the fatigue, she grabbed a bottle from her dresser and popped it open before tossing another caffeine pill down her gullet.
She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and started.

For more authors who may or may not be battling evil inside themselves, be sure to check out the official Six Sentence Sunday Site here.

  1. Multiple personalities...don't we all have those? ;)

Lots of creepy goodness in these six. :) Happy holidays & best of luck with the sub! Is the campground story next on your project list?

  2. Love the well-worn carpet detail—really shows us what a miserable, endless ritual this is for her. Great six!

  3. Hmm... no multiple personalities, but I've started hearing voices in my head recently.

I like the restlessness in this excerpt - is the setup that her alternate persona can only come out after she goes to sleep? Or is that what it used to be, only she sees something in the mirror that suggests it's about to happen while she's awake?

    Thanks for taking part.

I missed the list deadline for this week, but I did get six sentences up! http://kelworthfiles.wordpress.com/2011/12/18/six-sentence-sunday-more-from-children/

  5. Excellent post & storyline! You made me feel Evalyn's desperation to fight off sleep, and of course that last line's a great hook. Wonderful premise! Although... the evil inside me doesn't get fought off nearly as hard ;) Happy Sunday, and happy holidays too, since there's no SSS next week.
